Is there a user fee if I require an ambulance to get to a hospital?

Yes. Alberta residents ambulance service rates are a flat rate of $385.00 for any patient transported to a hospital regardless of distance traveled and $250.00 if an EMS crew assesses and/or treats a patient but does not transport them to a hospital. Out of province residents may have an additional surcharge added.

I have benefits through work. Can you bill my insurance company directly?

The only insurance company we can bill directly is Blue Cross; if we are provided with the Group and ID number of the card holder. Other insurance providers typically require the insured to pay their ambulance bill and submit a receipt for reimbursement.

How many ambulances are staffed by Wheatland EMS?

Wheatland EMS staffs three full time ambulances in a single station located at 196 Brent Blvd in Strathmore.

How many paramedic staff are employed by Wheatland EMS?

As of January 2018 Wheatland EMS employs a combination of 42 full-time, part-time and casual paramedic staff plus 3 administrative staff.

I am interested in EMS as a career. Is it possible for me to spend a day with a paramedic crew to see what your job is like?

Due to COVID-19 we have cancelled our ride-along program until further notice.

Is the cost of using ambulance services covered for seniors?

As a senior if you have applied for and are in possession of Alberta Blue Cross this will cover the cost of your ambulance service user fee.

Ambulance service invoices can be by:
